After completing the CARETrek Kilimanjaro Challenge (click here to read further) the CARE Trekkers decided to share their stories and show their supporters the difference that the funds they have donated would make…Midnight Safari was born.
The name sprung from the fundraising event organised by the Rickshawalas in January 2012 called Midnight Manali. Midnight Safari was an African themed night to say thank you to all our family and friends who supported us throughout the build up to and during our trek.
The evening was filled with entertainment ranging from African dancers playing with fire to Beyonce style dancing. Live African singing and entertainment was delivered by Man From Africa. The swahili songs and music brought back many memories for many family and friends who were born or had roots in Africa.
Kaushik Lakhani, a trustee of CAREducation Trust, presented all the CARE Trekkers with a certificate to show CARE’s appreciation for the hard work and dedication put in by the CARE Trekkers. Overall the CARE Trek challenge has managed to raise close to £50,000 for the charity with the funds being used to provide education for underprivileged children in Kenya.
The event was a huge sell out with 250 guests. We would like to thank everyone for supporting CAREducation Trust and the work that it does. A special thanks go to Avari Events (www.avarievents.com) and Shimla Foods (www.shimlafoods.co.uk) for providing the decorations/sound and food respectively.
